Jan 2010 – Decluttering Newsletter

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and New Year, and that you managed to have a restful break. The weather was kind to us [at least those of us in the North Island] and I loved taking time out to relax with a few good books, catch up with friends and family, and spruce up my garden. And yes, I even decluttered my own home.

Tip of the month : Business

The beginning of the year is the best time to sort through your files and papers in preparation for a brand new year. Here’s what I did:

  • Archived last year’s financial records.
  • Sorted and decluttered my business files; threw out what was no longer relevant and created order, and space, for what remained.
  • Culled old business magazines, journals and articles – I tore out any articles I thought I might refer back to and kept these in a designated file.

Tip of the month : Home

Decluttering at home is something we need to do on a fairly regular basis. We continue to fill up our space as we buy new clothes, magazines, etc. so we also need to discard that which is outdated or no longer loved.

  • Sort through your wardrobe and give away what you absolutely know you’re never going to wear again.
  • Cull magazines so you’re just left with the favourites and those most recent, and throw out old newspapers and periodicals.
  • Sort through the recipe books and magazines: keep just those that you know you will use and enjoy.

A last word

Decluttering is truly liberating and once you get started you may be surprised at what you can accomplish, and how great you will feel when it’s done. If you’re struggling to get it done by yourself, why not give me a call. I can help you sort it quickly, without the stress and sense of overwhelm.

As quoted by Catherine Ponder on “the vacuum law of prosperity”: “Basically, the vacuum law of prosperity is this: if you want greater good, greater prosperity in your life, start forming a vacuum to receive it! In other words, get rid of what you don’t want to make room for what you do want.”

In Joy!
